New Marine Science and Conference Center: Port Angeles
I am happy to announce that I have been appointed as an interior architect to assist in the development of two new major buildings in Port Angeles, Washington State, USA. The project will consist of two new buildings of around 30,000 ft² each. The first phase building is to accommodate various tenants including offices, classrooms and exhibition space for Feiro Marine Life Center and 7000 ft² hospitality and retail space including a gastro pub and restaurant, conference center, expected to break ground in July 2014. Feiro is currently located at the Port Angeles City Pier – I have included a link to some photos here.
Also in the second phase there is a potential for a further indoor/outdoor science building. Both buildings will be fully designed in house including all interiors by the internationally renowned aquarium architects Bios LLC Planning | Design | Construction out of Bainbridge Island near Seattle. The first phase building will be owned and developed by Alaskan based Neeser Construction Inc. and leased back to its tenants.
The location for the project will be the old disused 1.96 acre site (outlined in red) known as the ‘Oak Street’ property situated along the waterfront to the north West of Oak St N. and W. Front St owned by Tom McClaskey owner of Olympic Lodge. It is situated one city block west of the Port Angeles Ferry Terminal.
